CRAFTMANSHIP

Design & Construction:

At Sylvana Dubayssi, only selected center cuts of very unique exotic skins are used from all around the world like leather of pythons, lizards, nappa sheep and ostrich legs. We put to use ancient artistry to deliver the highest possible luminousness, featuring the essential characteristics belonging to each type of leather skin. We begin with the sketching of rough designs and gradually moving these onto images generated by computers with size details, leather types, accessories and construction.

Once the designs are finalized, we set up various shapes from cardboards to get the idea of how the bags are going to be designed. The patterns are then moved on eventually, as outlines for the first leather pieces to be cut. After various samples are made, the metal stencils are cut which cut out the smaller pieces of leather in a press. However, the larger pieces are cut completely by hand in order to select the best sections of the hides and cut with precision.

We manufacture in the skins listed below;

  • Python Leather
  • Lizard Leather
  • Nappa Sheep Leather
  • Ostrich Leg Leather
  • Ostrich Leather.
Preparation:

Continuous craft ship and intensified dedication is required for each and every fitting and clasp. From the selection of each genuine leathers and skins to the pleating, each of our bag is created by brilliant craftsmen independently polishing each piece and featuring the hereditary beauty of the materials used, thus handcrafting them to pure perfection.

Before the assembling of the bag, it goes through a process of preparations. A few parts are trimmed or thinned depending upon their function. Another process that takes place, is the engraving work for the clasps and the monogram plates which are either carved by hand or imprinted with a fire heated stencil. The fittings in each and every handbag display an exclusive gold-plated frame, which can be compared to no less than real gold that can be turned into just after a few steps. The delicate sculptures of the bags display the elements of shells, bones and natural woods.

Assembling & Finishing of The Bag:

The craftsmen know the order of each bag and how each step of the manufacturing has to be done. The bags have to be fashioned, hammered into shape and held before being stitched. Some bags have over 40 exclusive pieces and each one needs to be stitched in the correct order. Linings, paddings and strengthening boards have to be installed along with interior pockets and labels for the assembling. Several finishing touches are involved after the construction process. The staining and the sealing process is completed and a polish is applied to various leathers for a smooth, glossy finish. Over 15 people are involved in the process of manufacturing a single bag from start to finish and everyone is well trained and extremely proficient at their own jobs.
